ÂME (Sonar Kollektiv, Innervisions) @ Plastic
Mutant Soulution
ÂME (Sonar Kollektiv, Innervisions) Berlin Belgrade Yard SS Soulution DJs
If you draw connections between Chicago, Detroit, Berlin and New York City surprisingly the musical epicentre of these turns out to be in Karlsruhe. In the little town in western Germany these city’s influences join forces in the studio of Frank Wiedemann and Kristian Beyer, together forming the duo Âme (speak: Ahm, = French for soul). Their soulful mission to explore far beyond the borders of house music has by now gained attention on a global scale. Delivering constant quality with 12”s and remixes that are rocking house, techno and freestyle floors alike, it appears they have developed a new consensus for modern club music. Some even say they initiated the renaissance of deep house with their productions for Sonar Kollektiv and their label Innervisions which they run together with soul brother Dixon.
7 years ago they first met through Kristian’s record shop “Plattentasche” and various local gigs. Frank, provided with the right musical genes, and Kristian, having a profound knowledge of every shade of music there is, they one day decided to start their own musical mission. Kristian has always been turned on by the voices shouting out of motor city by the likes of Moodymann and Underground Resistance as well as the New York City sound of Blaze and Metro Area´s disco approach, whereas Frank’s broad spectrum of influences ranges from past Jazz and Folk to current Carl Craig and Chateau Flight including an array of house and techno pioneers.
Âme´s sound is easily accessible without ever loosing a distinct deepness, complexity and unique twist. Their inspirations, how diverse they might be, are cleverly quoted but never copied. What started of with a B-Side for Dixon´s Off Limits has since then shot off to become a coherent success story. Their tune “Rej” as the so far most successful release on Sonar Kollektiv did not only top the best of the year charts in German De:Bug and Groove mags but was also called “the Plastic Dreams of the new millennium” by key players Danny Krivit and Louie Vega of Masters At Work. Their latest remixes for Ben Watt´s Buzzin´ Fly imprint or Ibadan´s Jerome Sydenham again prove their diverse approaches beyond Deep House. Âme continues their story with in their distinctive style as well as with their Dj-sets by pushing the boundaries of new sounds, patterns and arrangements.

John Kong (DoRight! Toronto, Canada)
Nikolor (BB, Soulution, Belgrade)
BeatniksINC (Soulution,Belgrade)
John Kong has been actively involved in the music industry for over 10 years. As a successful DJ, Producer, A&R, and Promoter, among other things, he has been praised for his eclectic sounds and versatility, creating a style that juxtaposes rare Brazilian grooves, with Jazzy rhythms, deep Funk, Latin beats, and other classic sounds. In the mid ‘90s, Kong connected with other jazz aficionados to co-found the globally renowned DJ collective MOVEMENT. Still strong after 8 successful years, their monthly parties in Toronto have attracted internationally renowned talents, including Keb Darge, Gilles Peterson, Rainer Trüby, Jazzanova, BITA, Koop, Mad Mats, Theo Parrish, Osunlade, plus other major players in that “eclectic style” field from around the globe. While enjoying the success of the MOVEMENT monthlies, Kong went on to create ‘Do Right’ in 1999, a live music/DJ revue showcasing the best and upcoming in Funk and Soul acts, introducing then new artists: Sharon Jones, Quantic, DJ Mitsu the Beats, Afrodizz, Kokolo, to a wider audience. In 2001, Do Right evolved and expanded its mission to become Do Right Music, Canada's only alternative dance record label, linking the sounds of Funk to Hip Hop, Soul to House, Jazz to Broken Beats, and everything soulful! Do Right’s current roaster includes an impressive list of artists such as Ivana Santilli, Circle Research, Basic Soul Unit, Anonymous Twist, and many more to come this year!
His production credits date back to 2002 with his collaboration with Moonstarr on the track 'Future Vision', which was immediately picked up by Fluid Ounce in the UK. Now considered a classic, ‘Future Vision’ was played and charted by "Future jazz & broken-beats" DJs worldwide, establishing Kong as a vital innovative voice on the international Electronica scene. As a busy A&R man for Do Right Music, Kong still manages to find time to DJ aboard at venue such as Jazz Café London; and to work on remixes for established artists such as FEIST, & Hird under his production alias ‘Do Right Mix”. Most recently, Kong has just finished his first jazz project producing the Elizabeth Shepherd Trio. Their highly anticipated album “Start To Move’ is due out in Fall 2006, already creating a buzz in the Jazz Dance circuit.
“Bongos, Bleeps & Basslines” LP released on Mon 25th September 2006 on Ninja Tune / Fluid Ounce
Sub sonic, radar defying, up your ronson basslines and sweatbox, basement Brazilatin dancefloor bangers is attempt to do justice to the rapid reemergence of the production duo Zero dB. If you are looking for big albums of the year then take a slice of “Bongos, Bleeps & Basslines”. In fact, take the whole bastard cake.
For those who need a little history lesson, Chris Vogado and Neil Combstock (a.k.a Zero dB) emerged as a production force in 2000 with their debut release, the monster jazz stomper, “Come Party” – released on their Fluid Ounce imprint, with “Click” and “The Snare” following quick smart. Remixes for the likes of Truby Trio, Peace Orchestra, Suba, Interfearance, Original Soul Boy, John Kong & Moonstarr, Grupo Batuque, ACME recordings, ATFC, Hexstatic, Nicola Conte, and a Sun Ra track they remixed together with Gilles "DJ Hectic" Peterson were all united under one roof with the release of "Reconstruction" in Spring 2003.
In the here and now…The first glimpse into the new material has come courtesy of “A Pomba Girou / Te Quiero” – released June 2006. Simple, chunky and effective – the taste and flavour of Brazil has been reinterpreted for subterranean, 21st Century block party. “Bongos, Bleeps & Basslines” is not a collection of singles – or tracks that don’t work and sit together uneasily. It’s a piece of dirty brilliance that segues between broken beat, filthy house, electro, hip hop and of coarse… batacuda. Its Rock n Roll with a caprinha!

090606 JNOVA In Belgrade
Jazzanova is a German Berlin-based DJ/producer collective consisting of Alex Barck, Claas Brieler, Jürgen von Knoblauch, Roskow Kretschmann, Stefan Leisering, and Axel Reinemer. The group is one of the foremost proponents of the nu-jazz and jazz house styles of music associated with record labels such as Compost Records and Sonar Kollektiv. They also have a side-project, "Extended Spirit". They also gained recognition as innovative remixers for a vast number of acts such as Marschmellows, Ian Pooley, Incognito, 4 Hero, M J Cole, Masters at Work, Calexico, NuSpirit Heslinki…To Jazzanova, music means the search for a common language of international club music, to take in influences from all different cultures and musical styles, to fuse these styles together and get the audience involved in the whole musical spectrum of that fusion. Their love for deep jazz and modern beats has led their music. Alex will represent Jazzanova collective in this event.

Eddy Ramich was born in the Netherlands but is of semi-Slovak / semi-Croatian nationality and spent his childhood in the Netherlands,Slovakia, Libya and Germany which has had an enormous impact on his whole way of thinking. Besides being actively engaged in sports, Eddy also attends music school, playing the violin. During the years of breakdance fever he becomes interested in hip hop and starts djing at school parties. His affection towards black music develops more and more ever since he´s been to the UK back in 1988 and becomes familiar with acid jazz and soulful house. His first proper gigs take place in the summer of `89. Two years down the line Eddy starts studying at the Faculty of Business Economics in Zagreb, has his first residency at Aquarius and begins producing his own music. He´s been hosting his own radio show Kontrapunkt on Radio 101 ever since 1994 and around that time gets another residency at Club 1 as well as producing several remixes for Croatian pop acts. 1995 is quite a significant year for Eddy for then he starts djing in Croatia and elsewhere nearby and meets Dus. They start working together and in `97 sign a contract under the name Eddy&Dus on the French label Penso Positivo – SSOH Records. After releasing the album "High life" which receives great critics in several prominent British magazines, Eddy&Dus release four singles on the same label and come up with more than 20 remixes of international and Croatian artists. Including a DJ mix compilation for the Austrian label Ecco Chamber. In summer `03 they decide to quit they collaboration and Eddy starts working with Yannah on the Eddy meets Yannah project. Quite notably: Ever since 1999 Eddy & Kontrapunkt collective host the regular Saturday club night Kontrapunkt at the Aquarius club with guest djs such as Gilles Peterson, 4Hero, Carl Craig, King Britt, Bugz in the Attic, Rainer Trüby and many more. Yearly they are organizing the Future Jazz Festival Kontrapunkt within their club night which has spotted quite well.
