“Bongos, Bleeps & Basslines” LP released on Mon 25th September 2006 on Ninja Tune / Fluid Ounce

Sub sonic, radar defying, up your ronson basslines and sweatbox, basement Brazilatin dancefloor bangers is attempt to do justice to the rapid reemergence of the production duo Zero dB. If you are looking for big albums of the year then take a slice of “Bongos, Bleeps & Basslines”. In fact, take the whole bastard cake.

For those who need a little history lesson, Chris Vogado and Neil Combstock (a.k.a Zero dB) emerged as a production force in 2000 with their debut release, the monster jazz stomper, “Come Party” – released on their Fluid Ounce imprint, with “Click” and “The Snare” following quick smart. Remixes for the likes of Truby Trio, Peace Orchestra, Suba, Interfearance, Original Soul Boy, John Kong & Moonstarr, Grupo Batuque, ACME recordings, ATFC, Hexstatic, Nicola Conte, and a Sun Ra track they remixed together with Gilles "DJ Hectic" Peterson were all united under one roof with the release of "Reconstruction" in Spring 2003.

In the here and now…The first glimpse into the new material has come courtesy of “A Pomba Girou / Te Quiero” – released June 2006. Simple, chunky and effective – the taste and flavour of Brazil has been reinterpreted for subterranean, 21st Century block party. “Bongos, Bleeps & Basslines” is not a collection of singles – or tracks that don’t work and sit together uneasily. It’s a piece of dirty brilliance that segues between broken beat, filthy house, electro, hip hop and of coarse… batacuda. Its Rock n Roll with a caprinha!
