ÂME (Sonar Kollektiv, Innervisions) @ Plastic

Mutant Soulution
ÂME (Sonar Kollektiv, Innervisions) Berlin Belgrade Yard SS Soulution DJs

If you draw connections between Chicago, Detroit, Berlin and New York City surprisingly the musical epicentre of these turns out to be in Karlsruhe. In the little town in western Germany these city’s influences join forces in the studio of Frank Wiedemann and Kristian Beyer, together forming the duo Âme (speak: Ahm, = French for soul). Their soulful mission to explore far beyond the borders of house music has by now gained attention on a global scale. Delivering constant quality with 12”s and remixes that are rocking house, techno and freestyle floors alike, it appears they have developed a new consensus for modern club music. Some even say they initiated the renaissance of deep house with their productions for Sonar Kollektiv and their label Innervisions which they run together with soul brother Dixon.

7 years ago they first met through Kristian’s record shop “Plattentasche” and various local gigs. Frank, provided with the right musical genes, and Kristian, having a profound knowledge of every shade of music there is, they one day decided to start their own musical mission. Kristian has always been turned on by the voices shouting out of motor city by the likes of Moodymann and Underground Resistance as well as the New York City sound of Blaze and Metro Area´s disco approach, whereas Frank’s broad spectrum of influences ranges from past Jazz and Folk to current Carl Craig and Chateau Flight including an array of house and techno pioneers.

Âme´s sound is easily accessible without ever loosing a distinct deepness, complexity and unique twist. Their inspirations, how diverse they might be, are cleverly quoted but never copied. What started of with a B-Side for Dixon´s Off Limits has since then shot off to become a coherent success story. Their tune “Rej” as the so far most successful release on Sonar Kollektiv did not only top the best of the year charts in German De:Bug and Groove mags but was also called “the Plastic Dreams of the new millennium” by key players Danny Krivit and Louie Vega of Masters At Work. Their latest remixes for Ben Watt´s Buzzin´ Fly imprint or Ibadan´s Jerome Sydenham again prove their diverse approaches beyond Deep House. Âme continues their story with in their distinctive style as well as with their Dj-sets by pushing the boundaries of new sounds, patterns and arrangements.
